Winter 2019 Front-End Developer


The Office of Digital Humanities (ODH) partners with faculty around the College of Humanities to carry out research that makes use of digital methods and approaches. ODH is looking to hire a student to implement a redesign of the website for the Fairy Tales on Television (FTTV) project. The developer will work from a style guide and InDesign files to build a WordPress theme for the project.

Pay and Hours

This is a contract position for approximately 60 hours. We have a strong preference for completing the work during the Winter and Spring semesters. Pay is competitive, and students may be able to work up to 20 hours per week during the terms. We prioritize your education and can work flexibly with your schedule. Funding for the FTTV designer is generously provided by a 2018 Humanities Mentoring Environment Grant (HMEG) from the College of Humanities.

Required Qualifications

  • Fluency with HTML, CSS, PHP
  • WordPress theme development experience
  • Ability to work independently while reporting regularly to supervisor via in-person and remote channels
  • Willingness to ask questions and to ask for help when needed

Desired Qualifications

  • Fluency with Javascript, d3.js, Clojure, and other applicable web technologies
  • Familiarity with Git
